Yabra is a Ph.D. Student at the chair of Prof. Elliott Ash. He holds an M.Sc. in Data Science from the Barcelona School of Economics, and a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.
Prior to joining ETH Zurich, Yabra worked with Prof. Stephen Hansen (University College London) as a Predoctoral Researcher building models and tools for the use of unstructured data in economic analysis. Research Interests
Yabra is interested in studying how algorithmic decision-making systems, when deployed in high-stake environments (e.g. criminal law, credit scoring, job search), affect existing inequalities. He uses tools from applied economics, machine learning, and natural language processing to measure these effects. More broadly, he is interested in exploring how these algorithmic decision-making systems can be subjected to different notions of fairness, including those that account for historical inequalities, foster diversity, and are compatible with social change.
