Call for Papers: AI (for) Governance Conference

5-6 March 2020, EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland Submissions Deadline: December 15th, 2019

Recent and ongoing technological developments in artificial intelligence technologies are transforming the theory and practice of government interventions in the economy. AI technologies present unprecedented challenges to regulators in terms of privacy, cybersecurity, consumer rights, and ethics. At the same time, AI has the potential to empower regulators and other government actors to pursue more effectively their public mission.

The AI (for) Governance Conference provides a forum for leaders from academia, government, and industry to explore these issues. In particular, we invite law/governance scholars, social scientists, and data scientists to join us in Lausanne to present their work. Besides working papers on new or ongoing research, we seek overviews on the science and policy of AI and governance, as well as proposals for new and innovative research agendas which have not yet begun. The goal of the conference is to provide diverse feedback and support for projects at all stages.

The workshop will be held at EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland on March 5–6, 2020. Featured speakers include Prof. Elliott Ash (Law, Economics, and Data Science Group, ETH Zurich) and Prof. Marcel Salathé (Digital Epidemiology Group, EPFL). Economy travel and accommodation for academic presenters and panelists will be covered by the conference organizers.

The submission deadline for papers and proposals is December 15, 2019. Submissions can be emailed to Dasa Skopp () with the subject line “AI Conference Submission.” Questions can be addressed to Elliott Ash at .
